Tindersticks - Something Rains LP
The Something Rain, het nieuwe studioalbum van Tindersticks is
alweer het negende
studioalbum van de Britse band rondom voorman Stuart Staples. Op
vrijdag 11 maart staat
Tindersticks in de Melkweg (Rabozaal) in Amsterdam.
Tindersticks werd in 1991 opgericht en bracht twee jaar later haar
debuutalbum uit. De
groep bouwde haar carrière gestaag uit, maar geheel vlekkeloos
verliep dit niet. De nodige
tegenslagen moesten worden overwonnen en veranderingen binnen de
band verwerkt.
Anno 2011 is Tindersticks een vijfkoppige groep naast Staples
bestaande uit songwriter en
percussionist David Boulter, gitarist Neil Fraser, drummer Earl
Harvin en bassist Dan
McKinna. ‘At the albums heart lies the memory of the people we have
lost in these last 2
years, but we were in no mood to be maudlin. It`s to them. But it`s
for us. We are still
drinking, laughing, crying, fighting, fucking, making our music.
They wouldn’t have wanted it
any other way.’
Van de twintig nummers dieTindersticks het afgelopen jaar heeft
opgenomen, zijn er negen
overgebleven die als geheel The Something Rain vormen. Negen
typische Tindersticks
liedjes waar alles helemaal aan klopt. ‘Making albums is a tricky
thing ; writing, arranging,
playing, recording, mixing, all so important to get right. Then
there is that other element
permeates everything; desire. If you have this, you can fuck up any
or all of the above and
still succeed in making something beautiful. We have experienced
this many times.What
happens when you get all of those other elements right too?
